Welcome to the 17th EAPC World Congress Online 2021! Here is everything you need to know about the congress.

The 17th EAPC World Congress begins on 27th September 2021 in a purpose-built online Congress Centre, accessible to all delegates from wherever they live across the globe using your unique login. All of the conference materials will be available to delegates until January 2022. Live interactive sessions are taking place from 6 to 8 October 2021. https://online.eapcnet.eu/login

The congress live session timings are shown in Central European Time (CET) which is 1 hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

If you attended the 2020 congress and have registered for 2021 or if you were a poster author then you can log in now with your existing user name and password to https ://online.eapcnet.eu/ Details of how to access the congress platform were sent to all other registered delegates on 27th September 2021. The email header will be:

If you have not received your login email by 28th September 2021 please:

  1. check your spam/junk email for this
  2. alternatively go to https://online.eapcnet.eu/login/forgot_password.php  
  3. Enter the email address you registered to the congress with into the search bar in lowercase to generate a further automated email from the site.
  4. If you are still having difficulties email info@eapcnet.eu and we can manually reset your account for you.

The purpose-built online Congress Centre has all the same content that you have come to expect from an EAPC World Congress, accessible from any web-enabled device.

From 6 to 8 October, live and interactive sessions will all run on the hour. All times stated on the platform and in the programme are Central European Time. To fit with the online format, most of our speakers will only present a short summary of their work with most of the live session dedicated to discussion and debate. Full talks have been pre-recorded and are available on the congress platform. Registrants can view these at a time that suits your own schedule. There is also a searchable database of posters.

To gain the most benefit, please view relevant presentations which have been uploaded by panel members before the live and interactive sessions.

All content will be available to view on Monday 27th September 2021.

Live  sessions will be recorded and made available to view on the congress website until January 2022. Create your own schedule to attend any or all of the recorded sessions or to visit other areas of the congress whenever and wherever you choose.

Yes. EACCME accreditation and Continuing Medical Education (CME) Points have been secured for the congress.  Please complete the congress evaluation before the 31st October 2021 and we will forward your Certificate of Attendance.  All delegates who complete the full evaluation will be put into a prize draw.  This year the prize is a free registration for the 12th World Research Congress of the EAPC 2022, Online.

Yes. All delegates have the opportunity to link with other delegates, abstract authors and invited speakers.   Add your contact details, photo and other information to your individual profile page.  This will enable you to network, ask questions and contact each other individually. To set up your profile, once logged-in click on the dropdown next to your name in the top right-hand corner and select profile and add your details.

Throughout the congress there will be opportunities for delegates to meet and chat at any time. Additionally there are times set aside during the 6 to 8 October for a range of open meetings and opportunities to chat with speakers, EAPC group members and more using the Congregate Live app More details on how to access this social space are available on the congress platform for registrants

Yes. The online congress offers more opportunities than ever to ask questions or raise an issue with our wide range of speakers. To ask a question all you have to do is:

  1. i) During “Breakfast with” sessions join us on the Congregate app
  2. ii) For poster presenters – leave a comment on the poster page or contact the author directly using the congress chat function
  • iii) For speakers in live sessions – send a question in advance via the congress platform. You can do this by logging on to the platform and leaving a comment or question in the comments section at the bottom of the any pre-recorded content page. A selection of these will be posed to the speakers during the live interactive sessions by chairs. 

Yes. Maybe you are looking for something/someone? Or want to share your favourite recipe? The congress message board allows delegates to add a message with some, or all of, the following:

  • A heading
  • Text
  • A link
  • An image
  • An embedded Youtube video.

Delegates can also edit or delete their own posts but not the posts of others. Please do not post anything that you would not be happy to present in any public forum

We would love you to tweet about the congress, the presentations, the experience and recommendations. Our hashtag is #EAPC2021. Throughout the congress the EAPC Social Media Team will be tweeting and sharing exciting news!

Don’t forget to visit the EAPC blog with contributions from some of the leading clinicians and academics involved in adult and paediatric palliative and end-of-life care in Europe and beyond. A special series (https://eapcnet.wordpress.com/category/eapc-activities/eapc-world-congresses/17th-eapc-world-congress/ ) is dedicated exclusively to the congress where invited speakers give a sneak peek of their presentations. We’ll also be publishing during the congress interviews with winners of the 2021 EAPC Researchers Award. 

The congress evaluation form will be available on the platform from the 9th October. Please complete the evaluation form by the 31st October 2021 to be in with a chance of winning a free registration to the 12th EAPC World Research Congress, 2022. 

Delegates can also give individual feedback or ask authors questions by leaving a comment on a poster or pre-recorded presentation page. Please do not post anything that you would not be happy to say in any public forum

The abstract book has been published as a special edition of Palliative Medicine and is available to view on the congress website https://www.eapc-2021.org/ .

All poster presentations are available to view on the congress platform from Monday 27th September 2021.  Some have short videos explaining the abstract authors’ research. As usual, in each category the highest scoring posters are marked with a rosette.

You can leave comments for poster presenters and like and bookmark your favourites. Rosettes have been given to the best posters in each Category. A dedicated page on the congress platform will showcase all of the posters that received a rosette.

The poster with the most likes by 31st December 2021, will receive a prize.

Three Awards will be presented this year during the congress:

  • Journal of Palliative Medicine: European Paper of the year
  • Palliative Medicine: Paper pf the Year
  • The International Journal of Palliative Nursing:  Palliative Care Nurse of the Year

During the Palliative Science Slam participants have three minutes to present their research using an exciting and engaging talk that can be understood by the general public, using only props. All Presentations can be viewed when the congress platform opens on 27th September.

Please vote for your favourite entry. The final of the science slam will take place on 7th October 2021 at 7pm CET.

All entries of the competition are available to view on the platform and will be showcased in the opening ceremony. Please like your favourite photos on the platform! The most liked photos will be announced during the session on Friday 8th October at 9am CET.

It will take place on Tuesday 5th October between 3pm and 6pm CET.  The meeting will focus on how we are sustaining, and even growing, our palliative care service leaders throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Yes.  This pre-congress meeting is FREE to attend. It will take place on Tuesday 5th October between 1.30pm and 4pm CET. The meeting will focus on expanding access to quality palliative care worldwide.  Learn more at https://www.eapc-2021.org/who-workshop/

Yes. The third European-Union funded project meeting to take place at an EAPC congress is on Wednesday 5th October between 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm CET.

Principal investigators will present a summary of their project.  Time is set aside for discussion and questions.  This provides an opportunity to share experiences, to raise awareness and to disseminate findings. View the programme at https://www.eapc-2021.org/eu-project-meeting/

Yes, thanks to our prize sponsors. We have a number of books and other prizes to giveaway. Some prizes cannot be shipped to countries outside of the European Union but don’t worry, we will ensure you still receive a prize.  For those with an address in the European Union, you will be asked to provide your name and postal address and we will mail your prize to you.

Prizes will be allocated to the delegates who have been most active on the platform.  This will be monitored by data analytics.  You can also track your activity using our gamification.

Join Maude Hirst, yoga teacher and founder of the mindfulness company EnergyRise, (www.energyrise.co.uk) for a 15-minute gentle yoga session that will alleviate neck and back pain and leave you feeling relaxed and more focused. These sessions are accessible for all levels of ability and will give you the opportunity to take a break from sitting in stillness at your desk and stretch out any aches and pains. You will be able to access the sessions via the congress platform. 

EAPC Membership renews each January
